Victor, NY – Feb. 4, 2022 – New Scale Technologies has promoted Dr. Qin Xu to Vice President of Engineering. Dr. Xu has more than 20 years of experience in electromechanical systems engineering and engineering management. A key member of the company’s engineering team since 2005, he is the primary inventor of its UTAF™ piezoelectric micro motor and a leading contributor on numerous patents for its piezoelectric motors and miniature motion systems.
As VP Engineering, Dr. Xu continues to actively develop motion technologies, along with leading non-recurring engineering (NRE) projects and product development for both New Scale Technologies and New Scale Robotics.
Dr. Xu has prior experience at EXFO Burleigh Products Group, developing piezoelectric motor technology and optical metrology systems. He has a BS in Acoustics from Nanjing University and an MA and PhD in Physics from the University of Virginia.
